Losses in War

Throughout history
rulers made plans
to go to war
for god, gain, glory,
the only righteous cause
defending the homeland
from foreign invasion.
Soldiers die
doing their duty,
obeying orders,
right or wrong,
from arrogant leaders
frequently unconcerned
with the lives of their troops.
